Philosophy

Salt is probably the most ancient condiment used by Mankind. Romans and Phoenicians used to collect sea salt from the beach of d’Es Trenc. The location was not chosen at random: this natural 3.5 km long beach on the south-east of Mallorca is one of the most unspoilt beauty spots in the Balearic Islands. During the mid-20th century, the Salt Flats of Es Trenc were the centre of much activity for salt producers in the area. Since then the tradition has continued: harvesting sea salt from the flats irrigated by the crystalline waters from the beach that collects on the surface of the water bathed by summer sunshine. This the way the precious crystals of Flor de Sal are formed.

Quality, innovation and passion for gastronomy are the foundations of the business conceived in 2001 and put into practice in 2003: the harvesting of Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc, enriching it with natural ingredients and turn it into a star product of the Balearic Islands. This business concept earned her the “Innovative Project” award in 2003 from the Majorcan municipality of Calvià. At Alimentaria 2004 in Barcelona, the company was awarded the bronze “Best Pack” prize. At the gastronomic fair GULFOOD 2010, that takes place in Dubai, Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc has been the first product in the history of this trade fair to be awarded the two prestigious prizes:
