The salt flats of Es Trenc have been producing fine sea salt for centuries. The unspoiled coastline of Es Trenc, in the south east corner of Mallorca, provides optimum conditions for the formation of Flor de Salt, a natural salt of peerless quality. Thanks to Es Trenc’s crystal clear water, its high summer temperatures and gentle sea breezes, Flor de Sal captures the essence of the Mediterranean in every crystal.

Flor de Sal is the purest and finest of all sea salts. Specific weather conditions, in addition to direct sunlight, low humidity and gentle breezes over the salt pans, help create a fine layer of flower-like crystals on top of the brine. This mineral-rich sea salt is harvested with wooden rakes, following a time-honoured artisan method.

Drying

Unlike inferior sea salts, nothing is added or taken away during the production of Flor de Sal d’Es Trenc. Gathered by hand from the salt pans, it is slowly dried in the Mallorcan sun. Once dry, Flor de Sal is combined with Mediterranean herbs, spices, fruit and flowers, packaged, and finally dispatched to gourmet shops and restaurants the world over.
